Featured Project: Cañon Catering

If it seems like Cañon Catering and Taco Mojo look similar, it's because they are sister companies and mean to work well together. Taco Mojo is a high-end Mexican Catering company and Cañon Catering is more eclectic, but the looks are similar, but different enough that it's obvious we're appealing to completely different sorts of occasions.

The first thing of note is that this site is responsive. By mid 2013, it's likely that over half of internet traffic will be do to mobile devices. Already the numbers are staggering. Responsive web design barely existed in this country in 2006, but it spreading like wildfire since the iPhone came out in 2007. Please note, responsive design doesn't just mean that your site works on a mobile device, it also is a great chance to remember that the internet is — first and foremost — about content. The content someone needs on their phone, and the way in which it is presented, it a vastly different bird than the website. Little things like whether or not you can click with your right thumb on a link go a long way toward a more usable mobile site.

And there are a lot more bells and whistles you can do with a responsive site that wouldn't make as much sense with a traditional site, such as having not just a map on the contact page, but the user's current location on that map as well. The mobile demographic is growing too quickly to be ignored.

It's all about food and quality. This site should feel clean, gourmet, and above all — make you hungry.

The subnavigation helps to break up longer pages and take you to the content you're most interested in with the click of a button. You'll also note that all long copy blocks are balanced with some eye candy.

There are several menus here. We broke them up into primary categories to make it easier for the user to find what they need.

Planning a wedding can almost take the fun out of the event. If you can make something easier for the planners, that says a lot for your services (as ideally, that's what they are hiring a caterer for). Cañon Catering has broken down their process into five, easy-to-understand steps which help people know exactly what the process is.
