About

Unleashed Creative was started in 2003 by Perry Kibler and a couple other cynical industry veterans who felt that they could do it better. It's changed a bit since then, but it's still a core group of independents who would rather stay small and feisty than turn into the typical agency. There are no account managers, no salespeople, and no charts and graphs that show the way we work — it's just you and the people or person working directly on your project.

Custom Design

Web design is a fairly broad discipline. We've done the gamut from brochure sites less than 10 pages to full-scale web applications. Unleashed handles everything from the initial pen and paper sketches to the final code. What we (we meaning the extended family of Unleashed and its contractors) do is a wide range of sites, apps, and other design work. What we don't do is a much smaller list: we don't do templates, we don't work with ethically-challenged companies, and we don't do 'fast and cheap'. We'd like to be your partner for your current project, but we'd still like to be working with you 10 years from now. We are much more interested in a relationship than quick, one-off projects.

Preferred Technology

We use the best tools for the job, that might be Ruby or something that compiles down to a static site (via Middleman or Jekyll). What we use is different on every project, but our general 'stack' is often partly comprised of Twitter's excellent Bootstrap, git, Sass (not the training wheels version: Scss), Haml, and jQuery. What's important to note is that we do not recommend (or use) proprietary languages or frameworks; open source is the future of the internet, we believe in that whole-heartedly.

Price

Our focus is on quality, not quantity. All work is original, well-researched, and custom. We aren't the cheapest in town, but far from the most expensive either. If you want to get an exact number on your project, please contact us for a quote.

Clients

Unleashed clients have one thing in common, they're making the world better in their own ways and at the end of the day, we feel like better people for working with them. There are clients who run their companies because they love what they do and clients who just want to make money, we choose to work with the former. Not everyone is a good fit.

Links you might find helpful

Unleashed is focus on design and usability, but there are a lot of peripheral services you're going to need along the way. Below are some you might find of use.

Hosting

Right now, Mediatemple is our preferred host. We will work with any linux/unix host — provided they support a few core features; but if you're looking for a new host for a traditional site, Mediatemple is one of the better ones out there. If it's to be a rails app, our flavor of choice is Heroku.

Search engine marketing (SEO)

Beware cheap fixes for digital marketing. The people who do this well (and they're out there) take a lot of pride in what they do and offer a holistic approach. Meaning, they aren't doing it on the cheap. We follow the tips suggested by Google, but the cliff-notes version is "content". If you want to be found: be active in your online community, write good content, and be original. Stay away from black-hat SEO practices. You're not going to get promises and guarantees from anyone who is honest. If you want a very serious SEO company, you might talk to us for some recommendations.

Email campaign management

Campaign Monitor and MailChimp are really nice. They have good reporting and the campaign builders are painless.
